The metadata fields that you will use to record details about the components of your collection are defined by templates(s). Containers and items are the two categories of templates. Your collection's internal controls are reflected in the containers(s). They might replicate actual structures like cabinets, shelves, and filing cabinets, or they can symbolize topics like series and subseries that are inherently abstract. The individual artifacts and pieces that make up your collection are referred to as items. The link between containers and items is similar to the relationship between items and embedded items, it should be noted (see below).
Table renders template records in accordance with the selected filtering. Only non-standard templates are presented with the "Edit", "Delete", and "Duplicate" icons. The type of template you are browsing—container vs. item—is reflected in the breadcrumbs.
The list view defaults to Custom if the account has any custom templates. Otherwise, All is the default.

Containers
Standard container templates come with an Odyssey account. Your collection's organizational structures are reflected in the container(s). They can mimic real-world structures like cabinets, shelves, and filing cabinets, or they might symbolize notions like series and sub-series that are abstract. You might also have extra container types that were created specifically for your individual collections if your account is Advanced or Pro level. Note that the templates for Standard containers cannot be changed.

Creating New Container Template
One may access the New Container Template interface by clicking the add new button in the upper left corner of the page. From there, one can name their new container by typing it in the "Name" box and saving their changes by clicking the save button.

Once you've hit "Save," you're sent to a second page with a dynamic table of fields. Here, you may fill in the "Add Name" box, choose a category and list sources, if necessary, then hit "Plus" to add more fields.
Grouped fields are displayed collectively in some situations. The'major' field is shown as the primary metadata in the list below, while the grouped fields are shown as secondary metadata related to the main field (seen on the right).
Clicking "Properties" tab, you can now select a common thumbnail for this new container template. When you're done, click the "Save" button in the top right corner.
Controls for the publication viewer will appear when you click the presentation. These controls accurately depict how the Publication Viewer controls for the template are currently configured. When switching between Publication Viewer and Standard Viewer more controls are shown while Publication Viewer is open. These are hidden when it is not in use.
While in the edit screen, click "Instances" to see all items currently utilizing this template.
Clicking the "Duplicate" button of an existing container template is another approach to make a new or unique container template.
Create a new title in the Duplicate Container Template interface and select "Make a copy."

You can add new fields or edit current fields from the edit interface. By sliding the pointer sign to the left of the field name, you can easily reorder fields. Click the "Save" button in the top right corner when you are completed.
Items
The individual artifacts and pieces that make up your collection are referred to as items. The link between containers and items is similar to the relationship between items and embedded objects, it should be noted. You might furthermore have extra item types that were created specifically for your individual collections if your account is at the Advanced or Pro level. The default item type templates cannot be changed.

By clicking on the arrow to the far right, you may view the metadata fields that are available for each item template.
The navigation approach for each item template is much the same as for the container template.
Category and List Source
Each field has a Name, Category, and List Source in lists as well as the container and item template(s). The Category identifies the broad category to which this information belongs. The pull-down menu has various options.
The list name from which the metadata for this field will be retrieved is indicated by the List Source.
Keep in mind that not every category has a list linked with it. When a list-type field is selected, a box in the List Source(s) column will show up.
